2021 The Year of America’s Fire & EMS

COVID-19 has affected America’s Fire Service in ways never before experienced.

Hurricanes, floods and wildfires have caused 2020 to be an extremely difficult year for Fire & EMS Providers.

Specifically, Fire and EMS agencies are suffering from a lack of funding, resources, and staffing more than ever before.  These shortages come while calls for services are increasing.

Little help has come from the Federal Government to directly help the front line of Fire and EMSResponders who handle the COVID situations in the field– before the patients reach the hospital.

Help MUST be given to sustain the public safety infrastructure of out of hospital care, and life-threatening situation response.  Every community from the largest cities to the smallest neighborhoods have an assigned Fire and EMS agency.  This impacts every American.

A key aspect of “2021 The Year of America’s Fire & EMS” is the calling upon the Federal Government for the immediate action on the following:

1. Fire and EMS personnel are suffering from the inability to conduct fundraising or be adequately funded to perform their duties and protect the public. Volunteer Departments have been handicapped from necessary fundraising efforts due to Covid limitations.

CALL TO ACTION:

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHALL INCLUDE $3.3 BILLION DOLLARS IN STIMULUS FUNDING TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO 33,000 FIRE AND EMS AGENCIES IN A GRANT PROGRAM UP TO $100,000 PER AGENCY.

IN ADDITION, THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHALL INCLUDE STIMULUS SUPPORT TO STATES AND MUNICIPALITIES TO INCLUDE FIRE DEPARTMENT FUNDING SUPPORT TO KEEP FIRE & EMS SYSTEMS WHOLE.

2. Staffing is adversely affected due to meeting the public demands of Fire and EMS for out of hospital care and emergency response, due to the reality of suffering from COVID-19 or concerns of contracting COVID-19.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHALL PRIORITIZE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND VACCINE ACCESSIBILITY TO THOSE FIRE & EMS PERSONNEL WITH STREET LEVEL RESPONSIBILITY.

3. Budget challenges at the state and local level are adversely affecting fire and EMS agencies and require assurances to fund minimum response levels for all types ofagencies.

Services soon to be offered through One World for Life:

SAFER FUNDING SHALL BE PRIORITIZED AND EXPEDITED TO RECRUIT, RETAIN AND SUSTAIN FIRE AND EMS STAFFING AT THE FRONT LINES.

-America’s safety infrastructure is at RISK and requires Federal Action!
